Your appointment

However you choose to contact us we may offer you a consultation:

  • By phone
  • Face to face at the surgery
  • On a video call
  • By text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know as frequent non-attenders could be removed from the patient list as per our missed appointment policy of three consecutive missed appointments.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Home Visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.

To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you phone the practice as soon after 8am as possible.

GP Extended Hours

We have collaborated with 9 other local GP surgeries to become the new Black Country Hub.

This hub is able to offer extended hours to patients between 6.30pm- 8.00pm Monday to Friday 8am-12:30 pm on Saturdays and 8am-12:30pm on Sundays.

This service is offered to ALL patients registered at the 10 practices and NOT just our patients at Glebefields Surgery.

Patients will be able to book one of these appointments via telephone or at reception, the appointments will be both pre-bookable and on the day with a GP / Nurse or HCA.

GPs, Nurses, HCAs and Reception staff based there come from the other 10 practices to work at Portway Family Practice, so don't be surprised if you see our staff members on the day when go to Portway Family Practice for your appointment.

Please be aware that during the hours of 6.30pm - 8.00pm staff will not deal with: repeat prescriptions queries, test results, sick notes and private requests. You will need to contact our surgery number on 0121 530 8040 during normal hours regarding them.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
